It is easy to become gloomy about the current overpopulated and polluted civilisation, with climate dangers growing steadily, however weather extremes have always been with us, and pandemics have been far worse.
The Magdalene Flood of 1342 was far beyond anything recorded before or since, and was closely followed by the Black Plague.
