Here's the image above with an inset of Australia superimposed over the plume to help illustrate the vast size. Australia is about 4000km wide by 2200km deep, the sixth largest country in the world.
To understand this better, there are significant wildfires across the world at the time of this post but you can hardly see the concentrated PM2.5 elsewhere.
